Price for Profit
Sales are exciting, but revenue is not the same thing as profit. In this module, you’ll learn how to understand your real costs, set prices intentionally, and make sure your mystery scoop business is actually paying you.
What You’ll Work Through
Pricing can feel intimidating at first, especially when you are trying to balance affordability with actually making money. The goal is not to guess at a number that “feels right.” It is to understand what each scoop costs you and build your price from there.
1. Know Your True Cost
Your product cost is only one piece of the puzzle. Make sure you account for packaging, labels, shipping materials, platform fees, payment processing, and other costs that may come out of each sale.
2. Calculate Your Cost Per Scoop
Break your inventory down into a usable per-item cost so you can estimate what one complete scoop actually costs you to create. This gives you a much stronger starting point for pricing than simply copying what another seller charges.
3. Build Profit Into the Price
Your price should leave room after expenses for the business to pay you. A scoop that generates lots of orders but leaves you with almost nothing after costs is not a sustainable business model.
4. Remember Your Selling Fees
Different platforms may charge different transaction, processing, or marketplace fees. Make sure those costs are included when you compare selling through your own website versus another platform.
5. Review Your Numbers as You Grow
Your first price does not have to be your forever price. Product costs, shipping expenses, fees, and your inventory mix can change over time. Revisit your numbers regularly so your prices continue to make sense.
